Sweet As Emm steps up to ‘700’

Powerhouse chaser Sweet As Emm steps up to ‘700’ for the first time this Thursday night.

She set a flying 33.94 over 595m in December however sustained a minor injury in the run. Her return came a month later where she has since had three starts, finding no luck in any of them.

“We just thought it was the right time to step her up. In her last couple of runs she’s found trouble, we don’t want that to keep happening to her as she might lose her confidence,” said trainer Brendan Pursell (pictured with Sweet As Emm after their Laurels heat win).

“Being a longer trip and against stayers she should be able to get towards the front a lot quicker.”

As often asked for any greyhound on their ‘700’ debut, will she get the trip?

“There’s no reason why she wouldn’t run it out on what she’s shown so far with her run home times. To be honest, I’m excited to see what she can do.”

Sweet As Emm will jump from box 4 in race 5 on Thursday night, she meets the in-form Never Duplicated who is likely to start favourite and is also on debut over the distance.
