Young family celebrate JayJay’s success

Young partners Emma Bowles and Lachlan Scott picked up their first ‘Sandown’ city win last night.

It was courtesy of Hardaway JayJay who was absolutely faultless. He speared out of the boxes and went on to win by 9 lengths – the biggest winning margin of the night.

“This is our second city win, we won our first about six months ago at The Meadows with Scott To Give,” said Bowles.

The family has 14 greyhounds at their Invergordon base and are still in the infancy of their training careers.

“I’ve had my training license for about 5 or 6 years, my partner has been involved for a long time.”

They have two young kids which takes a team effort when caring for their racing team.

“Lachlan works full time as a painter. We get up together and look after the dogs in the morning. I stay at home during the day with two kids and look after the dogs, then we both do it together again at night.”

Scott gained experience training greyhounds under the guidance of respected conditioner Jimmy Auld.

“He taught me everything I know. One day I’d love to be training full time.”

He hopes the best is yet to come with Hardaway JayJay, and even suggested having a go at the Speed Star – now 33rd on the standings with his 29.56 win.

“He’s just turned 2-years-old, so we’re hoping the best is yet to come.”

Later in the night Deliver bounced back to winning form taking out the night’s 515m Free-For-All while Dyna Chancer was sensational in the 595m Free-For-All, all but securing his berth in a record fourth match race series.
