Rippin’ Sam vs Tornado Tears, IT’S ON!

It’s the clash the greyhound world has been waiting to see – Tornado Tears versus Rippin’ Sam – head to head in a match race for the ages at Sandown Park on Thursday 6 September!

To be run over 595m, the match race will serve as the final tune up for Speed Star VII to be run at Sandown Park on Sunday 16 September.

The pair last met in the group 1 Crocmedia National Distance Championship at Sandown Park last Friday night that saw Tornado Tears prevail over his litter mate by just over two lengths, maintaining his undefeated record against Rippin’ Sam.

Despite the lopsided 7-0 head to head score line, trainer of the pair Robert Britton maintains his belief that two out, there isn’t a lot between them in terms of overall pace.

“I’ve always thought there wasn’t much between them,” Britton said.

“Obviously Tornado Tears has a bit more early pace, but I think the format will give ‘Sam’ the chance to get out a bit quicker. He actually jumped quite well from the inside box in the Nationals final last week, and obviously not having to navigate through a field is going to suit his as well.

“I’m looking forward to see what they can do.

The ‘Sandown Showdown’ will be broadcast on Sky Racing 1 on Thursday 6 September.

Paw note: There is no prize money on offer for this title match and times will not be used as Speed Star qualifiers
