Feral Franky to kickstart Speed Star trials

Australia’s most popular greyhound Feral Franky will trial this Sunday ahead of September’s Speed Star.

Having opted to bypass the National Sprint Championships following his group 1 Maturity campaign, he returned to Wentworth Park on Saturday night with a trademark come-from-behind victory.

“He’s pulled up terrific. He was happy to be back racing that’s for sure,” said trainer Jack Smith.

‘The Feral’ is no stranger to the format having run 29.204 when defeating Midnight Dare in his Bill Collins Speed Star match in May, good enough for second place overall behind eventual winner Flynn.

“He’s definitely coming into this Speed Star no worse than he was for the last.

“I hope he will run around 29.20.”

That time would catapult ‘The Feral’ to the top of the Speed Star 515m standings, currently headed by Lucy’s Milo at 29.292.

The match racing spectacular will be run on Sunday September 15. Again events will be held over all three distances with $190,000 in prize money to be won.
