Tornado Tears locked in for Speed Star trial

Australia’s fastest stayer Tornado Tears will step out for a Speed Star trial on Monday.

‘Batman’ is a two-time Speed Star event winner both over 595m, however trainer Rob Britton has elected to trial him over 715m.

“He’s getting on in age and has probably lost a little bit of dash. I think at this stage of his career he’s be better suited over ‘700’.”

Tornado Tears broke the Cannington 600m track record in a trial leading up to last Saturday’s National Distance final. He found nothing but trouble in the race though ran home well and finished runner-up to Reidy’s Runner.

Blue Shadows sits at the top of the 715m standings with 41.686, a time most would expect Tornado Tears to eclipse on Monday.

The other big name set to trial is West Australian sprinter Campini. He has long been touted as the fastest greyhound in the West and is absolutely suited by the Speed Star format. The Greg Doyle trained Kiomara is also booked to trial, hoping to improve her current position on the 715m standings.
