Mercurial Houdini favourite for Bold Trease

Houdini Boy has opened the odds on favourite for Friday’s $150,000 group 1 Bold Trease following his convincing – if unconventional – victory in his heat last night.

Well known for his slow starts and barnstorming finishes, Houdini Boy began well on his Sandown 715m debut and took the lead with a lap to go. From there he was never threatened, scoring by 4.5 lengths in 41.555.

Sweet As Emm set the time standard 41.538 in winning the opening heat, while Blazing Cartier will line up in her seventh group 1 final after winning the final heat in 41.644 and giving trainer Britton a chance at claiming his fourth consecutive Bold Trease final.

The box draw for the final on Friday 27th November was conducted after the final race of the night.
